Moreover, 129 feddans work in fish farming on an area of 1300 feddans of fish farms. Further more, in the protectorate exist also approximately 1724 free fishermen working on 182 boat, 50 persons working in salt mining, 46 persons from local community working in the protectorate constituting approximately more than 90% of its total staff: employed mainly in jobs of guard, security, collecting visit fees and administration. Wadi Ar-Rayyan researchers usually lead periodic visits to local schools to provide environmental education and public awareness of their protectorate and its objectives. In school trips, the pupils could visit the protectorate to be directly acknowledged by the protectorate characteristics in addition to admiring its museum located in the Visitor Center.

It has been created a new program for manufacturing and marketing environmental products for benefit of the local community so that the community could sell their products, whether organic agricultural products or handmade products: bamboo bins, handicrafts.

Therefore, they could be bought in the protectorate: organic agricultural products, grains, dairy products, olive, aromatic plants and handicrafts. Regarding fish, you could get it in the early morning from fishermen within the main Visitors Area or from collecting fish units. You could ask anyone of the protectorate workers how to reach.
