Biodiversity
Nabq is home to a variety of animal and marine species, including one of the largest populations of gazelles in southern Sinai. These are often seen at sunset in the vicinity of the dunes. Nubian ibex can be found in the mountain areas and hyraxes thrive in Wadi Khereiza. The largest mangrove stand in the Gulf of Aqaba and the northernmost mangroves in the Indian Ocean/Red Sea area front the shoreline of Nabq, and the coast’s coral reefs are extremely rich with unusual profiles and structures that add to their beauty and diversity. Ras Tantoor and Nakhlet El Tal provide easy access to excellent viewing of these and other underwater wonders. For more information please visit www.biomapegypt.org.
